Media FX Group News 2015

Toothfairy 2015
Hello Friends of the Media FX Group,

The team hopes this email finds you well and enjoying the hot summer weather. We’d like to take this opportunity to keep you abreast of some projects we've been working on during this past winter and spring. Having a duffel bag of expertise in various aspects of the media industry means that there is never a dull moment in the office; no two projects are ever the same. We are already half way through the year and on track for even more exciting projects. Here are just a few of the events we worked on....

BCTIA

BCTIA - Technology Impact Awards

The BC Technology Industry Association (BCITA) celebrated the Technology Innovation Awards (TIAs) on June 3rd, and the Media FX Group once again worked with Freeman Audio Visual and Eclipse Production and Design to provide a memorable awards ceremony. The Media FX Group created stunning centre screen motion graphics, videos announcing each of the nominees for the awards, a sponsor reel, and a promotional video for the BCTIA Innovation HUB that was premiered at the event.

The TIAs were founded in 1994 by the BCTIA, and celebrate the successes of the tech industry in our province. Applications are received from across the province every year, and awards are given for multiple categories, including teamwork, innovation, new startups, and overall company success.

BC Sports Hall of Fame

BC Sports Hall of Fame

The BC Sports Hall of Fame preserves sport heritage in our province by inducting individuals and teams into their ranks. To date 354 individuals and 57 teams have been inducted onto the BC Sports Hall of Fame through recognition of their excellence in sport, contribution to sport, or their impact on sport in BC.

For this year’s BC Sports Hall of Fame Awards Gala, the Media FX Group created dynamic graphical content that was displayed on the multi-projection screens for the event. We provided show-control through the Watchout display system, ensuring that the night ran smoothly and according to script.

Loreal

L'Oreal and PSAV Timelapse

The 23rd World Congress of Dermatology in 2015 took place in Vancouver from June 8-13, 2015. L’Oreal was the diamond sponsor for the event and hosted the Award for Social Responsibility in Dermatology at the Rocky Mountaineer train station in Vancouver.

The Media FX Group controlled the Watchout system for 3, 10x60ft screens, displaying high definition video, motion graphics, and static images throughout the event. We also created a timelapse video of the event over four days - from setup through testing, rehearsal, event, and strike. The show and our content production were a huge success and we look forward to working on similar projects in the future - https://vimeo.com/131823162 - Thank you LAPROD and PSAV.

BCIT 50

BCIT 50
50 years ago, BC Premier WAC Bennett officially opened the doors to the British Columbia Institute of Technology. The Media FX Group with EMC2, Go2Media and ProShow combined efforts to give the institution a proper anniversary celebration.

The 50th Anniversary Gala took place in October and the Media FX Group provided projection mapping through the Mad Mapper and Modul8 systems. Our expertise in the use of different projection mapping software allowed us to take EMC2 and Go2Media content and map it to the custom stage screens creating a stunning stage effect with maximum impact.

Ethel Tibbits

Ethel Tibbits

The Ethel Tibbits Awards has raised more than $300,000 for local women's charities, including the primary beneficiary, Nova House, a shelter for women and their children escaping domestic violence operated by Chimo Community Services.

We worked with 365 Productions, where we produced the Ethel Tibbits Awards video and PowerPoint media. 365 provided the Audio Visual Equipment.

The awards are named after Ethel Tibbits, the pioneering editor of the Richmond Review, who prior to the Second World War, took a strong stand against the internment of people with Japanese heritage.

United Way

United Way

United Way has been changing people’s lives for the better since 1930! They help kids grow up great, help families feel a sense of belonging and make sure our neighbourhoods are safe and supportive places for everyone. Across Metro Vancouver and from the Sea to Sky corridor to the Sunshine Coast, the United Way (Lower Mainland) helps make our community better.

The Media FX Group with PSAV created an amazing show for the United Way. The Media FX Group created visual effects content and projected it (with PSAV's help - supplying the staging and audio/visual equipment) on stage using the Watchout show control system.

Cornerstone

Cornerstone On Demand

In May the Media FX Group worked with Go2Media on an awesome 3D presentation at LA Live. We worked with our Watchout system to display the 3D content across multiple projection screens, some of which were recessed or had other creative configurations.

Go2Media’s content wowed the audience, and thanks to the Media FX Group’s show control experience, the event went off without a hitch... after a few days of rehearsals!

Media FX Group provided the show control and Watchout projection mapping, Go2Media developed the 3D presentation, and AV Masters brought the audio-visual gear and technical expertise.
